Cyclones Lose to Gnats in Walk Off
Nichols beat Coney Island at The Pond, escaping with a 7-6 win. The win in large part was due to shortstop Rick MacEachern, who earned player of the game honors. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winner was Nichols reliever Tsuginori Inoue, now 3-8. The loser was Fu Yue. The Gnats, at 24-38, sit in last place in the Buck O'Neil League San Diego Chicken Division.

The Gnats were down to their final out when pinch hitter Alfredo Ruíz turned a 2-2 curveball from Fu Yue into a 3-run home run. The walk-off home run made the The Pond crowd go wild.

Ruíz described the clubhouse as "kind of rowdy" after the game.
