Emeralds Come Back Late to Top Saints
Despite a fine performance by catcher Walt Stokes, the St. Paul Saints suffered a 7-6 loss to the Eugene Emeralds. Stokes went 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The win was Javier Ballina's in relief. His record improves to 6-4. Taheiji Ohayashi took the loss for St. Paul. Eugene is now riding a 3-game win streak.

Jim Unknown had the most critical at-bat for Eugene. With two in the top of the ninth inning, Unknown hit a 0-1 fastball from Taheiji Ohayashi for a run-scoring single. It put Eugene in front, 7-6.
