Victory Over Emeralds Takes Winfield to 32-21
|
The Winfield Warriors downed the Eugene Emeralds, 7-2, at Prefontaine Park. The Warriors were led by Jonathan Reynaud, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Octávio Pérez got the win, improving to 3-3. He held the Emeralds to 2 runs on 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 5. Rich Steele earned the save for Winfield, his 5th of the year.
Asmara Layar aided the Winfield cause with a 2-run single in the top of the third. For the game, the catcher was 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Reynaud told the Winfield Times.
At 32-21, the Warriors find themselves in third place in the Buck O'Neil League San Diego Chicken Division.
