The Coney Island Cyclones wasted an impressive 6.2-inning effort from starter Austin Covey, falling 2-1 to the San Angelo Mustangs at Coney Island Coliseum. San Angelo reliever Mauro Navarro picked up the win, upping his record to 5-1. Fu Yue shouldered the loss. Luis Domínguez earned the save, his 8th.

San Angelo took a 2-1 lead on Justin Seymour's 25th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Seymour hit in the top of the ninth, left Coney Island pitcher Fu Yue shaking his head.

"We squandered some opportunities," said Coney Island manager Loren Garrison.

The Cyclones, now 20-29, have lost 5 straight.
