Panthers Beat Cyclones, 5-4

The Charleston Panthers did just enough to sneak past the Coney Island Cyclones, 5-4, at Franklin Mountains Field. Charleston pitcher Francisco Zúńiga earned player of the game honors. John Patterson got the save, the 2nd for him this season. The 5th-place Cyclones have dropped 4 straight games.
A key at-bat in the game came in the bottom of the sixth inning when the Panthers sent teenager Jamie López to the plate against Cyclones hurler Mark Stewart. With the bases empty and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a home run off a 0-1 fastball to score 1.
"I still have a lot of confidence in this team," Charleston manager Todd Hall said afterward.
