Though he had a great game, Yan-hao Lao could not single-handedly produce a win for Chippewa. Baltimore won the game, 4-2. Lao was named the player of the game. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 doubles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Todd Couch got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. The win puts the Blue Claws at 26-22, while the River Chiefs drop to 27-21.
Baltimore right fielder Tobias Zeiler helped the Blue Claws go up, 1-0, in the top of the second inning. With the game tied, Zeiler hit a run-scoring double off Chippewa pitcher Willi Kehr.
