River Chiefs Take Close Win Over Blue Claws
|
The Baltimore Blue Claws wasted an inspired, 7-inning effort from starter Lourenço Russa, falling 2-0 to the Chippewa River Chiefs at The Reservation. The win was Ramón Román's in relief. His record improves to 4-1. Dae-je Kwak took the loss for Baltimore. The 'W' lifts Chippewa's record to 27-19.
There were several reasons the River Chiefs beat the Blue Claws, but one factor was Doug Turner. In the bottom of the eighth, the Chippewa catcher came to bat and hit a 2-run single. It staked his team to a 2-0 lead.
"Getting the win feels pretty nice," said Turner. "More importantly, I had a good game."
