Victoria beat San Angelo on the strength of starter Jeff Duff's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 5-2 win. Duff, now 2-1, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 2 earned runs. Jean-François Blot earned the save, his 1st, for the Vikings.
In the bottom of the sixth, Reggie Volkmann had a big run-scoring single off Todd Mullins. With the single, the Victoria left fielder put his team in front, 3-2. He was 1 for 4 in the contest.
"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Volkmann.
Victoria occupies 6th place in the Buck O'Neil League San Diego Chicken Division at 17-24.
