River Chiefs Win at Charleston, 6-2
|
Chippewa got a strong outing from Felipe Arreola as the River Chiefs defeated the Charleston Panthers, 6-2, at Franklin Mountains Field. Arreola, the winner, moves to 3-3. He threw 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 3 walks. Matsuyo Koda closed it out for his 1st save.
One important at-bat came with runners on 2nd and 3rd in the top of the first inning. Facing Charleston hurler Lyndon Ernst, Carlos Gutiérrez hit a 2-run single. The River Chiefs went on to win.
"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," said Gutiérrez. "But I like how we're playing right now."
The River Chiefs saw their record improve to 24-16.
