Tight Tilt Goes to Earthquakes, 3-2

Both teams had their chances, but the San Francisco Earthquakes eventually prevailed at Waterfront Park.
The San Francisco Earthquakes eked out a 3-2 win versus the Portland Beavers at Waterfront Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Víctor Martínez, who captured player of the game honors. Jonathan Martin earned the save for San Francisco, his 15th.
The San Francisco win was a team effort. It included major contributions from, among others, Juan Mora. In the top of the sixth, the San Francisco designated hitter came to bat and hit a solo home run. It staked his team to a 1-0 lead.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Mora.
With the win over Portland, the Earthquakes improved to 33-20.
