Khu Helps Nichols Cruise to 12-3 Win
The Nichols Gnats had no problem beating the Charleston Panthers, 12-3, at The Pond. Lian-wei Khu led the way. He went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4 for Nichols. The winner was António Mejía, who threw 87 pitches over 5 innings. The left-hander was charged with 3 runs on 5 hits. Akinori Ohayashi earned the save for Nichols, his 2nd of the year.

In the bottom of the 3rd, the Gnats grabbed the lead when Rafael Caro rapped a two-out home run. Nichols was trailing 3-2, when Caro hit a 2-run home run off Morihiro Hashimoto to put his team in front, 4-3.

"Today was a lot of fun," said Caro.

The Gnats now have a mark of 15-20.
