Warriors Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Mustangs
The Winfield Warriors faced a tough opponent in San Angelo pitcher Beau Miller, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Heartland Kettlecorn Stadium by a final score of 6-4. Miller went 5.1 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. The win was Quang Thuan's in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Mauro Navarro took the loss for San Angelo. Naganori Sakaguchi earned the save, his 2nd, for the Warriors.

The most important at-bat for Winfield came in the top of the ninth inning, when catcher Motoki Ohayashi stroked a 1-1 fastball to right for a run-scoring single, putting Winfield up, 5-4.

"Been a rough stretch for us," said San Angelo manager Dave Callahan.

The Mustangs, now 20-13, have lost 5 in a row.
