Winfield and San Angelo duked it out at Heartland Kettlecorn Stadium and the Warriors came out victorious.

Winfield got an elite performance from starting pitcher Les van Kleef in taking a 4-1 decision over the San Angelo Mustangs. Winfield reliever Tam Bilh was the winner. His record is now 1-4. Luis Domínguez took the loss. Rich Steele closed the door for Winfield, picking up his 3rd save of the year.

Runs were at a premium. So, Jonathan Reynaud's at-bat with no one out in the top of the ninth was crucial. The Winfield designated hitter hit a run-scoring double, to give his team a 2-1 lead.

"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said van Kleef. "Successful pitchers do it."

With the win, Winfield elevates its record to 17-15.
