Late Rally by Knights Secures Win
|
The Eugene Emeralds and Kingwood Knights provided some drama at Prefontaine Park.
The Knights had to overcome a fine effort from Eugene pitcher Cai-fei Men to grab a narrow 3-2 win at Prefontaine Park. Men went 8 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Kingwood reliever Dave Coffin picked up the win to move to 1-0. James Woodard suffered the loss. Picking up the save was Javier González, his 5th.
Kian Amphlett had the most critical at-bat for Kingwood. With one in the top of the ninth inning, Amphlett hit a 1-1 cutter from James Woodard for a 2-run home run. It put Kingwood in front, 3-2.
"We found a way to get it done," Amphlett said.
Kingwood is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 11th win in 29 games.
