River Chiefs Get Road Win, 9-5
|
Chippewa first baseman Jang-lu Xiang made his presence felt in the 9-5 River Chiefs triumph over the Coney Island Cyclones. Xiang went 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times. It was the 20th win in 29 games this year for the defending champion River Chiefs, who are picking up where they left off.
In the top of the first, Germán Peña ambushed a 1-2 fastball from Subaru Ohayashi and hit a solo home run. It gave Chippewa a quick 1-0 lead.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Xiang. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
