The New Orleans Jedi Knights beat the St. Paul Saints, 9-5, at The Republic. New Orleans third baseman Shinji Kakuta earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Ernie Henderson, credited with the win, is now 2-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. At 17-10, the Jedi Knights have played well so far.
Anthony Miller was one of the major contributors to the win for New Orleans. The light-hitting center fielder stroked a single to left-center in the bottom of the fifth inning. For the day, he went 2 for 5 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Kakuta told the New Orleans Herald.
