Loss Extends Nichols Losing Streak
|
The Coney Island Cyclones defeated the Nichols Gnats, 7-4, at Coney Island Coliseum. Coney Island first baseman Frederick Huggins was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 1-1 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The Gnats, now 7-15, continue their poor start.
Huggins had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 2-1 curveball from Akinori Ohayashi, he banged a grand slam home run to left, giving the Cyclones a 7-4 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Huggins.
"We've hit a rough patch right now," said Nichols skipper Stanley Martin.
