Kingwood starter Ruggiero Valturri had a strong outing against the Charleston Panthers at Stable Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-3 win. The winning pitcher was Valturri, now 2-2. He tossed 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. Kingwood is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 7th win in 19 games.
Truman Cassidy brought the hometown crowd to its feet with two out in the bottom of the first. That's when the 20-year old left fielder belted a 3-run home run. With the round-tripper, the Knights took the lead, 3-0.
"Ruggiero was throwing free and easy," said Kingwood manager Rodger Raymond.
