Mustangs Get Win, Extend Streak to 4
|
The San Angelo Mustangs defeated the New Orleans Jedi Knights, 10-5, at Heartland Kettlecorn Stadium. San Angelo second baseman Mennac Matojo was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Beau Miller, the winner, improved to 2-0. He held New Orleans to 4 runs on 6 hits over 5 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts. San Angelo, now 11-7, has played well in the early going.
In the bottom of the fifth, Ichiyo Murakami had a big 2-run single off Dao-zi Chou. With the single, the San Angelo catcher put his team in front, 6-4. He was 1 for 4 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once in the contest.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said San Angelo manager Dave Callahan.
