River Chiefs Get One-Run Win at St. Paul
|
Fans who gathered at Saints Ballpark saw a good contest between the Chippewa River Chiefs and St. Paul Saints.
The Chippewa River Chiefs picked up a win at Saints Ballpark, knocking off the St. Paul Saints, 4-3. Starting pitcher Willi Kehr played a key role in the triumph. Kehr picked up the win for Chippewa, going 6 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 2-0. George Fortin Jr. locked down his 2nd save.
Jang-lu Xiang was 1-2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Chippewa. With one out and the game tied in the top of the fifth, Xiang had a clutch at-bat. Facing St. Paul hurler Izo Rin, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the River Chiefs a 3-2 lead.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Kehr.
It was the 10th win in 14 games this year for the defending champion River Chiefs, who are picking up where they left off.
