Eureka Topples Kansas City, 3-2

The bats were silent much of the day at The Nest. But Roberto Trevino conjured up just enough offense to carry the Hornets past the Kansas City Tornadoes, 3-2. Trevino slugged 2 home runs. Mitsunari Kobayashi, who went 5.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 8 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 5-1. Andrés Nevárez locked down his 17th save.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Eureka got a break when Trevino went to the plate. With no outs, the bases empty and the Hornets leading 2-0, Trevino hit a solo home run.
After the game, Eureka manager Stephen Jackson applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
The Hornets, at 27-24, sit in third place in the Thurman Munson League Sparky Anderson Division.
