Gnats Lose Again, 5-3

The Kingwood Knights picked up a win at The Pond, knocking off the Nichols Gnats, 5-3. Starting pitcher Roger Rogers, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Rogers picked up the win for Kingwood, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. The Gnats fall to 3-7 and continue their wobbly start to the 2028 season.
The Knights took the lead in the top of the fifth. With one out, Jake Coe hit a 2-run home run off Nichols pitcher Pedro Alejo, putting Kingwood in front, 3-2. For the game, Coe was 2-5 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Rogers said.
