Chippewa rode a fine outing from starter Felipe Arreola to victory over the Winfield Warriors at The Reservation. The final score was 3-1. Arreola got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 6 hits and walked 1 over 5 innings. Arreola allowed 1 earned run. Earning his 1st save of the year was George Fortin Jr..
Tied up with the Warriors in the bottom of the fourth, the River Chiefs got a boost from shortstop Esteban Ramos. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Ramos saw a first pitch circle change from Armando Hernández and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Chippewa on top, 2-1.
"Anytime I can help the team, I feel good about it," said Ramos.
It was the 9th win in 11 games this year for the defending champion River Chiefs, who are picking up where they left off.
