Carlos Gutiérrez did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Chippewa River Chiefs from losing, 6-5, to the Baltimore Blue Claws at Old Bay Park. Gutiérrez was 2-2 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. The win was Tim Stady's in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Matsuyo Koda took the loss for Chippewa. The Blue Claws, now 3-6, have not found much traction so far in 2028.

Matt Lilic was the walk-off hero for Baltimore. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, the Baltimore pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"This wasn't a good win," said Lilic. "It was a great win."
