Chippewa Makes It 6 Straight with 5-2 Win
|
Chippewa turned a good effort from starter Josuke Fujihara into a win over the Baltimore Blue Claws at Old Bay Park. The final score was 5-2. Chippewa reliever George Fortin Jr. was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Tim Stady. Juan Martínez got credit for the save for Chippewa. It was his 3rd of the year.
Runs were at a premium. So, Arturo Trinidad's at-bat with one out in the top of the ninth was crucial. The Chippewa first baseman hit a 2-run single, to give his team a 3-2 lead.
"There's a lot of good karma around our club," said winning manager Bruce Leah.
The River Chiefs keep rolling, raising their record to 6-1.
