Cyclones Beat Panthers, 8-3
|
Behind a solid performance from right fielder Lester Cattermole, the Coney Island Cyclones defeated the Charleston Panthers, 8-3. Cattermole was 1-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Cyclones. Coney Island reliever John Fuller picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Mitsuzuka Koyama absorbed the loss. Ronald Stevens sewed up the save, his 1st.
In the bottom of the fifth, Coney Island second baseman Fernando Juárez had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 3rd and two out, Juárez stroked a run-scoring single to right. It made the score 3-2, Coney Island. For the game, he went 1-2 with a hit by pitch.
"Winning is all that really matters and we got it done today," Cattermole told the Coney Island News.
The win gives the Cyclones a record of 3-6.
