Vikings Go Down to Defeat, 7-5
|
Winfield starter Les van Kleef pitched effectively against the Victoria Vikings at The Barn. The right-hander led his team to a 7-5 win. Conor Temple closed the door for Winfield, picking up his 2nd save of the year. With the win, Winfield is 5-3.
It could have been a different outcome for Winfield, had it not been for Frank Chaulk, the 21-year old center fielder . Chaulk contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth inning to put Winfield up, 4-3.
"Les was throwing strikes, locating well," said Winfield manager Alan Hall.
