Both teams had their chances, but the Victoria Vikings eventually prevailed at The drakkar.
Victoria Vikings starter Maurice Bignold was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Baltimore Blue Claws, 4-3. Bignold, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks.
Pedro Moreno was 2 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI for Victoria. In a tie game with one out in the bottom of the second, Moreno came through with a 2-run single. It put the Vikings in front, 3-1.
"Maurice's tempo and rhythm were good," said Victoria Vikings manager Charles Luce. "He was the key to us winning."
The Vikings, with just their 2nd win so far in 2028, have yet to catch fire.
