4-3 Win by River Chiefs Continues Hot Start

The Chippewa River Chiefs knocked off the San Angelo Mustangs, 4-3, at The Reservation. Jang-lu Xiang, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Chippewa won. The first baseman was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Chippewa reliever Josh Hunt picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Carlos Riscado absorbed the loss. Juan Martínez got credit for the save for Chippewa. It was his 2nd of the year.
In the bottom of the 6th, second baseman Carlos Ortíz gave Chippewa the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The River Chiefs had been trailing 3-2, but the two-out single off San Angelo pitcher Carlos Riscado changed that -- and Chippewa went on to win.
"We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one," Ortíz told local reporters. "We've got to keep it going."
Chippewa, now 5-1, is setting the league on fire so far.
