Chippewa overcame a superlative game from J.J. Crawford to beat San Angelo, 3-2. The San Angelo pitcher took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. Chippewa is off to a hot start at 4-1.

In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 2-2, pinch hitter Arturo Trinidad won it for Chippewa. With the bases loaded, Trinidad hit a first pitch cutter from Luis Domínguez for a run-scoring single, giving his team a 3-2 win.

"It's great when the crowd gets into it," Trinidad said.
