Bloodhounds Rally For 9-7 Win
|
The Boise Bloodhounds downed the Eugene Emeralds, 9-7, at Prefontaine Park. The Bloodhounds were led by Martin Benstead, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 5 with 3 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Boise reliever Ken Banks was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Javier Ballina took the loss for Eugene. Mitsuzuka Nakano got the save, the 1st for him this season.
Had Benstead not come through in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have changed. Instead, with two down, Benstead hit a 2-run single. The Bloodhounds never looked back after taking the 9-7 lead.
"It's a long season," said Benstead. "We'll keep working to improve."
Losses have been few and far between for the Emeralds so far this season. Their record drops to 2-1.
