Bloodhounds Fall Short, 2-1, at Eugene
|
In a low-scoring game between the Eugene Emeralds and the Boise Bloodhounds, pitcher Wilson Polk was masterful on the mound. The Eugene left-hander was named the player of the game in Eugene's 2-1 win. The win was Shotaro Terada's in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Millard Richardson took the loss for Boise. James Woodard picked up the save, his 1st.
Eugene first baseman José Padilla gave his club a productive at-bat in the bottom of the sixth inning. With a runner on 3rd and the Emeralds trailing 1-0, Padilla hit a sacrifice fly.
"The old adage is true," said Padilla. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
Eugene, now 2-0, is setting the league on fire so far.
