Kojuro Yamaguchi was the difference-maker for the Baltimore Blue Claws in what turned into a shootout with the Nichols Gnats. Yamaguchi earned the player of the game award after going 4-for-4 in the 25-9 Blue Claws win. Loo Wa picked up the save for Baltimore, his 1st of the year. The win gives Baltimore a record of 1-1.

Baltimore designated hitter Jason Brown helped the Blue Claws to the win. In the bottom of the third inning, the 22-year old right fielder stroked a grand slam home run. For the game, Brown went 1-6 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4.

"It was one of those games where both teams were swinging the bat well," Brown said.
