Capitals Win at Stroudsburg, 8-1
|
The Springfield Capitals and starting pitcher Jeff Campbell stifled the Stroudsburg offense en route to a comfortable 8-1 win at Tim Raines Stadium. The third-place Capitals are now 96-62, the Shade 61-97.
Flexing his muscles for Springfield was Warren Sanders. The first baseman had a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth for the Capitals. It put his team ahead, 2-0, and sent them on to victory. For the game, Sanders was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"Jeff was throwing free and easy," said Springfield manager Anthony Mays.
