Republic Defeat Titans, 5-3

The So Cal Republic picked up a win at House of the Republic, knocking off the Omaha Titans, 5-3. Starting pitcher Rick Hill was an essential part of his team's success. In 7.1 innings, Hill surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed 3 runs. So Cal is now 31-17, 3 games up in the Roberto Clemente League Christian Latulippe Division.
The Republic beat the Titans in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Luis Hernández produced in the bottom of the sixth. Batting against Omaha pitcher Daniel Díaz, Hernández gave his team a 5-3 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
"We take it day by day here," said Hernández, "and today was a good one for us."
