Dancin' Outlaws Finish Off Capitals in 12
|
Despite a great performance by Springfield first baseman Takehide Sasaki, the West Virginia Dancin' Outlaws defeated the Capitals by the score of 9-7 at Penlee Park. Sasaki was 3-5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. The winner was West Virginia reliever Bernardino Pacheco, now 3-6. The loser was Albert Gonzáles. The third-place Dancin' Outlaws have won 4 in a row.
Stéphane Jacquemin dealt the Capitals a crippling blow in the bottom of the 12th. With the game tied and a runner on 1st, he hit a walk-off 2-run home run. The longball gave West Virginia the lead, 9-7. Springfield pitcher Albert Gonzáles could only shake his head in disbelief.
"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Jacquemin said in his postgame press conference.
