The New York Mafia stymied the Columbus Codebreakers, 7-2, at Central Park Downtown Stadium. Stanley Comiskey, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs for New York. Curt Rhodes got the win, improving to 6-3. He worked 9 innings, giving up 2 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. The 4th-place Mafia improved to 25-26.
A defensive miscue in the top of the seventh cost the Codebreakers. With New York leading 3-2, Allan Jackson reached on an error by the 3B, driving in 1 run. New York ended up winning the ballgame.
Comiskey called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
