Seals Best Road Warriors in Pitching Duel
|
Beach City starter Edwin Crespin put a stranglehold on the Westside offense. The right-hander had complete command of his change up in leading the Seals to a 2-1 win. Crespin got the win, improving to 2-5. He allowed 5 hits and walked 1 over 5 innings. Crespin allowed no earned runs. Konrad Dortmans got the save, the 4th for him this season.
The Seals beat the Road Warriors in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out home run Hilario Martínez produced in the top of the fifth. Batting against Westside pitcher Daryl Walder, Martínez gave his team a 1-0 lead when he hit a solo home run.
"We came out with the short end of the stick," said Westside skipper Tim Duncan.
The 5th-place Seals are now 48-76, the Road Warriors 96-28.
