|
The Sioux City Knights and starting pitcher Charlie Bennett stifled the Houston offense en route to a comfortable 9-2 win at Woodland Park. Bennett, the winner, moves to 5-3. He threw 5.1 innings of 1-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. The save was credited to Yohachi Adachi, his 2nd.
César Martínez aided the Sioux City cause with a bases-clearing double in the top of the ninth. For the game, the shortstop went 2-4 with 2 doubles and a walk, while adding 3 RBI.
"We didn't put up much resistance," said losing manager Robby Tate.
The third-place Knights lifted their record to 69-57.
