Sting Fall Short, 2-1, at Palm Beach

The Houston Sting wasted an inspired, 7-inning effort from starter Tim Lush, falling 2-1 to the Palm Beach Bums at Envoys Ballpark. Palm Beach reliever Daniel White picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-4. Jason Graves was collared with the loss. Palm Beach currently is in last place in the August Herrman League Phillie Phanatic Division at 27-92.
A critical at-bat came in the bottom of the eighth inning when the Bums sent 18-year-old pinch hitter Ricardo Gómez to the plate with a runner on 3rd. The youngster shook off the pressure and hit a sacrifice fly, to put Palm Beach on top, 2-1.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Houston skipper Robby Tate, "and it cost us."
