Victory Over Bush Wackers Takes Springfield to 79-44
|
The Springfield Capitals beat the Brisbane Bush Wackers, 8-3, at Prairie Field. The win was largely due to the efforts of first baseman Warren Sanders, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Springfield reliever Máximo Martínez picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Owen Kay shouldered the loss. At 79-44, Springfield is in third place in the August Herrman League Mr. Met Division.
Miguel Seánez was one of the major contributors to the win for Springfield. The light-hitting left fielder stroked a home run to right-center in the bottom of the second inning. For the day, he went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We swung the bats pretty good throughout the lineup," said Springfield skipper Anthony Mays.
