Capitals Squelch Beach City Offense in Shutout Win
|
Springfield left-hander Jeff Campbell was in fine form, shutting out the Beach City Seals, 6-0. Tom Murchison sewed up the save, his 3rd. The Capitals own a robust 74-42 mark.
In the top of the fourth, Kumanosuke Ota took a fastball from Vic Smith and pounded a 2-run home run to right. It put Springfield on top, 2-0. For the game, Ota went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2.
Campbell told a Springfield Today reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
