Houston starter Maurice Hesmondhalgh pitched effectively against the Stroudsburg Shade at Tim Raines Stadium. The left-hander led his team to a 5-2 win. The 4th-place Sting have won 4 straight.

There were several reasons the Sting beat the Shade, but one factor was Troy Roberts. In the top of the second, the Houston designated hitter came to bat and hit a 2-run single. It staked his team to a 2-0 lead.

"It was a good effort all around," said Roberts.
