Eagles Bang Out 8-3 Win Versus Bethesda
|
The Whitewater Eagles beat the Bethesda Hornets, 8-3, at Hornets Field. The win was largely due to the efforts of third baseman Azmus Metzger, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 2 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI. The winner was Jeremiah Horne in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Alberto García took the loss. The save went to Alex Luscombe, his 2nd this season.
Luis Alaniz's at-bat in the top of the seventh inning was a big one for Whitewater. Coming to bat with two out, the bases loaded and Whitewater leading 4-3, the right fielder hit a 2-run single.
"It feels good to get this one," Metzger told the Whitewater Citizen.
The Eagles improve their record to 50-54 with the win over Bethesda.
