Sioux City got an elite performance from starting pitcher Pedre Pedrogo in taking a 5-1 decision over the Springfield Capitals. Pedrogo got the win, improving to 6-5. He allowed 4 hits and walked 1 over 6.1 innings. Pedrogo allowed no earned runs. Walker Baldwin finished to wrap up his 17th save.
Also pitching for Sioux City was pinch hitter Ron Matthews, who hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth. For the game, Matthews went 1 for 1 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"Pedre did a tremendous job," said Sioux City manager Leland Ray.
The third-place Knights now have a win-loss record of 48-50.
