Road Warriors Knock Off Houston at Woodland Park
|
Pitcher Lucas van Alpen was sensational for the Westside Road Warriors in his team's 4-1 triumph over the Houston Sting. van Alpen received player of the game honors, while picking up the win. van Alpen, the winner, moves to 12-3. He threw 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 1 and giving up 3 walks. Nicholas Winslow got the save, the 10th for him this season.
Kenko Hori contributed a productive at-bat in the top of the fourth. With runners on 1st and 3rd, he drew a walk. It was one at-bat that propelled Westside to the win.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Westside Road Warriors manager Tim Duncan, "I like our chances."
The first-place Road Warriors, at 77-20, now lead their division by 4½ games.
