Despite a fine performance by left fielder Josh Dronfield, the Kansas City Blue Spaders suffered a 7-3 loss to the Sioux City Knights. Dronfield went 3-4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 3 times. The winner was Sioux City reliever Maziba Chiba, now 2-4. The loser was Bill Neville. Yohachi Adachi got the save, the 1st for him this season.
With a runner on 3rd and two out in the top of the sixth inning, left fielder Yachi Ichihara delivered big for the Knights. Sioux City was trailing 3-1 when he belted a 2-run home run.
In postgame remarks, Ichihara said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
With the win, the Knights improved to 41-43.
