The Jersey Jesters defeated the So Cal Republic, 6-2, in Thurman Munson League action at The Royal Court at Jersey Yards, with Jersey pitcher Mitsuharu Shionoya named player of the game. The second-place Jesters improved to 27-18.
Making an impact for Jersey was left fielder Carlos Cantú. He drilled a 2-run single in the bottom of the first. For the game, Cantú went 1 for 4, while adding 2 RBI.
"I thought we played a nice game," Shionoya told the Jersey Citizen. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
