The rain at The Aerie did not keep West Virginia and Whitewater from finishing their game.
West Virginia starter Sean Irish had a strong outing against the Whitewater Eagles at The Aerie. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-3 win. Reliever Bernardino Pacheco picked up the win. His record improves to 2-4. Mitch Lovell took the loss. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Cyprien Bataille.
West Virginia took a 5-3 lead on José Guzmán's 55th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Guzmán hit in the top of the eighth, left Whitewater pitcher Mitch Lovell shaking his head.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Irish.
The 4th-place Eagles have lost 4 straight games.
