Dancin' Outlaws Hang 4-1 Loss on Eagles
|
The exploits of center fielder Nori Matsubara, who is tied for 9th in the AHL in stolen bases with 19, helped the West Virginia Dancin' Outlaws defeat the Whitewater Eagles, 4-1. Matsubara was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Pablo Gudino was the winner. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed 1 run on 6 hits, with 4 walks and 2 strikeouts. Earning his 1st save for West Virginia was Cyprien Bataille.
Tied up with the Eagles in the top of the fifth, the Dancin' Outlaws got a boost from second baseman Seung-jun Pi. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Pi saw a 1-2 fastball from Caleb Berry and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put West Virginia on top, 2-1.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Matsubara said.
At 44-34, the Dancin' Outlaws are currently second in the August Herrman League Phillie Phanatic Division.
